What is Yoga Nidra?

It is a powerful guided relaxation process, that relaxes deep tissues, soothes the nervous system, and allows your body & mind the space to heal. Yoga Nidra helps prepare and deepen your meditation experience, by allowing you to get out of your own way - experiencing the mind settle and the body rest.

Modern science has shown that 1 hour of Yoga Nidra is worth 4 hours of deep sleep. A typical Yoga Nidra practice as offered in the US is between 15 and 40 minutes depending on the environment and intention of the practice.

Yoga Nidra is commonly used for therapeutic healing for the mind and senses, improved memory, physical healing and restoration, as well as a vehicle to abide in a state beyond sleeping, waking and dreaming.

What to expect: come prepared to rest and relax. Wear comfy clothes where you will feel warm and secure. Feel free to bring a small pillow, favorite blanket, neck or eye pillow. We have blankets, blocks and bolsters.

After a brief explanation, we'll go through an exercise to loosen up joints and glands to prepare the body to rest. Lie in savasana (resting on your back) and just follow the guided journey of relaxation, sensory awareness, mental release, physical healing and an experience of equanimity and clarity.
